The backlash is clear, most users hate the latest update and some may dump it for good. On another forum I went to much earlier, someone tried to sing praises of the latest version, and got downvoted by a lot. Opera is my back up browser (which I was prepared to migrate to.)Д«een using Firefox for 12 years and willing to dump Firefox now, because of such an awful update - Speaks volumes. Opera seemed to handle all the importation without issues and all the formatting got retained by it. Can I then reimport all the bookmarks/passwords back into the FF 56? Would this way work too? Totally uninstall and then reinstall and import from Opera. I just downloaded Opera and exported all my bookmarks to it. I've had to do it on ocassion, and while not fun - it got me back to where I wanted to be. Breathe a sigh of relief because it took quite a while to do it, but it CAN be done. reload all your bookmarks again to get the favicons back (yep ALL of them, 20-40 at a time or more if you want - your call) set all your prefs for all your extensions again (unless you can re-import them - see step 5) import any extension info that you exported in step 1 Reinstall 56 (or V52esr - all your extensions will work with this version (V52esr) until mid 2018 and you will get security updates as well): Remove ALL traces of 57 from your system Export your bookmarks, and any preferences your extensions will let you export Open up your currently installed version of Firefox If you MUST go back, then here is what I suggest: Once your profile has been modified by 57, there is no going back.

Do not allow Firefox to upgrade automatically (I have mine set to never, ever, update NOR remind me - I just check the release site when appropriate) ALWAYS backup your profile before upgrading to the latest version. If you didn't backup your old profile before going with 57 then there is no other option but nuclear. If I cannot roll back, it's goodbye for good. If anyone asks you, what is the meaning of 'Going Full Retard' - Answer them by showing the latest Firefox update. After using it for my entire online life. If I cannot roll back, I will DUMP Firefox for good. Ugly and they shifted the browser/URL field way center.just ugly. Like some 1990s browser with a stupid promo button in the top left to advertise how 'great' the latest version is (not). Lots of my (needed) Add-Ons do not work now, and the latest version just looks pathetic and ugly. Just hate version 57 and I can't seem to find any good clear guides on rolling back in easy to understand steps while retaining my profile, and bookmarks and extensions.
